About Us

Prairie Ridge promotes strong academic achievement for all students. Prairie Ridge partners with many community organizations to provide additional supports and learning experiences for students. These include Oshtemo-area churches (tutoring, school supplies, mentoring and winter clothing); Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo (tutoring, mobile dentist, mobile health clinic, winter clothing, clothes closet, mentoring, glasses, 21st Century After School Program); Girls on The Run; Western Michigan University (pre-interns and interns for the teaching profession); Kids Hope (mentors for students); and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Prime Time is a before- and after-school child care program provided by the YMCA of Kalamazoo.

Prairie Ridge parents and PTO are actively committed to working with staff to provide extended learning opportunities and school community activities including field trips, movie nights, assemblies and a Family Dance. Prairie Ridge is also a full implementation Reading Recovery school serving at-risk first grade students.
